Created in 1990, the Forestry Partners Program currently involves almost 4,000 contracts and is in more than 160 municipalities, of which 69 are in Espírito Santo, 39 in Minas Gerais, 14 in Bahia, 26 in Rio Grande do Sul and 8 in Rio de Janeiro. There are around 96,000 hectares under contract, of which almost 90,000 hectares have already been planted in eucalyptus, with an average area per contract of 25 hectares.
A farmer who is interested in joining the program can choose from three different plans:
1. Seedling Supply Agreement
Aracruz supplies eucalyptus seedlings and technical assistance to the participating farmer and promises to purchase the wood upon harvest.
2. Purchase and Supply Contract
Besides the seedlings and technical assistance, Aracruz supplies fertilizers and ant traps that are necessary to eucalyptus cultivation for free.
