The Aracruz Forestry Partners Program already has disbursed around US$200 million for wood purchases, raw materials, financial advances and taxes, and today is responsible for the generation of more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in the countryside, avoiding the exodus of rural manpower.
For the participating farmers, the economic advantages go beyond the sale of wood: they can reserve 3.5% of their production of eucalyptus trees for their own use and sell residues remaining on the soil after harvest (bark, branches, etc.) to bakeries, brick factories, charcoal makers, schools and other establishments.
Aracruz maintains a posture of ethical behavior with the partners in the program, constantly reviewing the prices of wood, adjusting the contracts to the needs of the farmers — including regarding the liberating of funds — and assuring excellence with regard to technical assistance.
