15 years of the program

Fifteen years of good crops

Aracruz’s Forestry Partners Program celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2006. The program involves partnerships with local farmers in the States of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro who produce eucalyptus trees for the company’s pulp mills.

It is a success story in every possible way: the program contributes to the generation of rural jobs, encourages the utilization of otherwise idle land, boosts and diversifies farm income, and at the same time assures the company of an alternative source of wood supply. By 2007 the program will supply 20% of the wood needed by Aracruz’s Barra do Riacho Unit in Espírito Santo.
